Bird Perch, the
Encinitas, California, 1200 sf
This 1100 SF addition volumetrically and functionally completes an existing house built in the 1980s in Encinitas. The main innovation of the project was to completely raise the building, achieving the dual objective of maintaining the parking space at street level and enhancing the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. A single steel beam entirely supports the new wing following the regular geometries of the existing house, made more dynamic by the addition of vertical wood cladding.
Inside, the large windows ensure extraordinary lighting in every room creating a suggestive environment.
